Venues

Wellington is full of music venues. Here is a partial list. Follow the links to find out what's happening near you. Days sometimes vary, so check listings to be sure.

The Rogue & Vagabond

Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday

The Rogue & Vagabond is a Wellington craft beer bar located in Glover Park just off Cuba Street. The bar features live music in a relaxed, dog-friendly venue.

Live local original music and a monthly rotation of local artists plus a commission-free art space.

MEOW

Any day: check listings

Meow is a venue next door to Wellington’s Little Beer Quarter (LBQ) and a staple on the NZ touring circuit since 2008.

While providing live music, stand-up comedy, slam poetry readings, and more, Meow also features a variety of craft beers and tasty food.

Moon

Any day: check listings

Pizza, beer, and live music in Newtown, Wellington.

Craft beer, handlpull ales, “low-gravity bites”, freshly-baked wraps, wine, and more. Quiz night on Mondays, Jam night on Tuesdays.

The Library

Thursday-Friday-Sunday

Hidden away upstairs in the heart of Courtenay Place sits The Library. Cocktails, wines, desserts, cheese, and savoury snacks make this a great place to meet before or after a show.

And, of course, The Library itself features live music. Check the schedule.

Hashigo Zake

Thursday-Friday-Saturday

Since 2009 we've been doing what we think is important for a bar, even if that means defying conventions.

That starts with selecting a diverse range of beer styles for our taps while keeping big, corporate brewers out. As a result we've been named the best bar in Wellington by the Society of Beer Advocates and the best bar in New Zealand by ratebeer.com multiple times.

We put our atmospheric underground location to good use and host superb music and comedy in our lounge.

Vogelmorn

Any day: check listings

The Vogelmorn Bowling Club began as an actual bowling club. Then, in 2014, it was sold to a charitable trust for a mere $1000.

Since then it has become a community centre and a hub for all sorts of activities: artists developing new work, co-working, theatre, dining and drinking, and, of course, concerts.

Plonk Wine Bar

Any day: check listings

Plonk was born from a love of wine, music, and food. Drop in for a drink, rip into our menu, and absorb the sounds.

Plonk features live music, local and wordly wines, and chefs McDonald and Pask riffing off French classics.
